Thuja Virginian™
A fast, dense privacy screen with the rich green color of Western red cedar in a tidy, space-saving footprint.
Thuja Virginian™ is an evergreen arborvitae bred from the same family that gave us the famous ‘Green Giant.’ It carries soft, flat sprays of deep green foliage on a tight, upright, pyramidal frame, growing at a moderate, manageable pace to about 14 ft. tall and only 6 ft. wide. That narrow profile makes it ideal where you want height and screening without a plant that sprawls into the yard, the driveway, or the neighbor’s fence line.
Why growers choose the Virginian™
- Dense, year-round screening. Branches hold foliage all the way to the ground, so a row reads as a solid green wall in every season — not just summer.
- Narrow, space-saving habit. At roughly 6 ft. wide at maturity, it gives you a tall screen in tight side yards and property lines where a wider conifer simply won’t fit.
- Rich color that holds. The deep green foliage stays handsome through winter rather than fading to a dull bronze.
- Easy to shape. As a Thuja, it takes shearing well and can be kept formal and crisp or left to grow naturally.
- Adaptable and hardy. Comfortable in full sun across USDA zones 5–8 and forgiving of a range of soils once established.
Plant a single specimen as a vertical accent by a corner or entry, or set several in a row for a living privacy hedge, a windbreak, or a clean evergreen backdrop for the rest of your beds.
